You’re Never Too Old to Chase Another Racing Dream
I’m a 56-year-old lifelong racer taking on sim racing with one ridiculous goal: become the oldest driver to reach 10,000 iRating.
To the best of our research, there are no 10K iRacing drivers over 30. Sim racing is widely considered a young racer's game—and the conventional path is to grow up on the sim before graduating to real-world racing.
I'm doing it backwards.
After nearly 40 years of real-world motorsports, I'm starting seriously in sim racing at an age when Father Time is supposed to be slowing me down, not making me faster. No smurf account. No hiding the bad days. No pretending I'm already fast.
Just one old racer, starting from the bottom, chasing 10K—one lap, one lesson and one race at a time.
